Guinness World Records is a
famous book of world records about people, animals and the natural world. There
is a new edition every year. It began 1951 with Sir Hugh Beaver. Sir Hugh was
the managing director of the Irish company, Guinnes. Guinnes is the most famous
beer in Ireland and it’s popular all over the world. One evening, Sir Hugh had
a discussion about what was the fastest bird in Europe. He discovered that it
was very diffivult to find the answer. Sir Hugh decided and Ross McWhirter, to
compile information about the biggest, the fastest and the longest things in
the world. Sir Hugh used money from his company Guinnes to pay them. Ayear
later, they published the information in a book. Today, Guinness World Records
has its own record. It’s the best selling non-reigious book in the world! You
can buy it in 100 countries in 37 different languages.

The tallest man in history was
an American, Robert Wadlow. He was 2.72 m tall! Wadlow was born in Illinois in
1918. At first his height was normal, but he starteed to grow very quickly when he was four years old. When he was eight
years four years old. When he was eight years old, he was already 1.88 m tall!
He died in 1940. He was on 22 years old.
